A VISITATION --------------------------------------- ANGELY I DEMONY KRUZHILI NADO MNOJ RAZBIVALI TERNII I ZVYOZDYNE PUTI NE ZNAET SCHAST'YA TOL'KO TOT KTO EGO ZOVA PON'YAT NE SMOG
❚IT WAS ANOTHER PUTRID DAY IN VOLKENON. As usual, Embla could scarcely see the blue that was in the sky from where she was, were the floor was scalding to the touch and everything burned and expired ruthlessly. Mount Volkenon was, as restless as ever, and if it weren't for the magic the Inferno King Onyx had placed upon the kingdom, it would've erupted and incinerated Titania like a matchbox in a bonfire. Still, it was early morning and the weather seemed to be leaning a little on the cloudy side. Perhaps she might not be able to see a shred of blue today.
❚SHE WAS ALREADY TAKING A WALK IN THE COURT by then, and lingered around the palace's outer areas absentmindedly, taking care not to fall or slip into a boiling puddle of magma. She had wanted to protest about controlling the flow of hot lava spilling about into the palace to Onyx, but decided against it when she had reconsidered her position. She was now somewhat moderately accustomed to the little crevices on the floor and the occasional spurts of flames that would singe the hem of her dress, and tired of worrying over them each day that passed. The charm magic placed upon her body naturally cooled her core temperature, so she was free to roam around the kingdom without being burned into a crisp. It also prevented from having her drink Cooler potions with no end, and by the gods if Embla had to, she would've detested the taste of any Tuny dish by now.
❚"HALT, DOG! THOU SHALL NOT PASS THE GATES OF ONYX!" A ferocious voice cried out in the distance, and Embla whipped her head around. She spotted a dark figuer out in the distance, where a throng of flaming red Vulcans began to circulate the trespasser. A human? No, that wasn't quite right. No ordinary human can survive through the hellish heat of Volkenon. She began to make her way towards the commotion, trying to get a better view of what was going on. As she neared closer, her eyes widened slightly in surprise, as she realized how it was. Old Vladmir! In an attempt to intervene, Embla found her own voice ringing out before her mind could think. "S-Stop! That man is my guest. Let him pass." She tried to press the rattle in her voice as best as she could, but her words nevertheless had an effect. The Vulcans froze immediately, before floating backwards, turning around to stare coldly at the dark-haired Valkyrie despite the immense heat they radiated.
❚EMBLA HEARD A ROAR OF FIRE BURST BEHIND HER, and turned around quickly, spotting a palace Vulcan floating towards her, flames of wrath blossoming and reddening with each second. Her hair razed and burned like dying snakes in a fire, and her eyes flashed a vehement yellow glow. "Valkyrie, we have told you countless times to warn us if you are to have a guest come in." She sternly lectured, and Embla nodded mutely, watching the Vulcans revert back to their red-skinned forms, their flaming curls of hair transforming into soft, billows of ash-white silk. Filing in a neat order, they took off again, sheathing their hot swords as they did so. Letting a small sigh of relief escape, Embla then turned to the dark-haired Beserker, nodding in acknowledgment. "I apologize for that. I hope your trip here wasn't too exhausting." Embla mused, letting a small smile light her face.

. . "What a pain...."
----
A trip to Volkenon wasn’t exactly a great place to go for a vacation, if he was a normal human he would’ve died from such scorching heat. With each step he took the flames erupted from here and there as if it was telling him to turn back. Despite this, he kept on marching over the treacherous terrain, braving any flames and magma that dared him to turn back. The weather was cloudy, even if there was no sun the temperature of this place would turn any normal men to madness or even die from sheer heat. He knew that residents of the Volkenon weren’t exactly friendly to the outsiders, so he had to prepare to draw his sword at any time even if it was a pain in the rear.
He then would stop occasionally to drink a few drops of water, but at this point it was boiling hot, so he had to throw it away. The berserker was actually considering turning back now than die from thirst, but he came a bit too far to return to his homeland. He might as well finish his journey to meet his old friend first, and hopefully Volkenon had some kind of water fountain that he can use; although, he highly doubted that water would be available in this fiery wasteland that he was in. This heat reminded him of the hot scorching battle that he was once in with this certain valkyrie that he had met a few years back before he became a berserker.
Basically, he really remembered her by the appearance than the name. When he saw those vibrant blue wings of hers he immediately knew that valkyrie was named: Embla, the daughter of Odin. Both of them had a few chances to interact with each other, but never managed to know each other better than their names. Then all sudden he never saw her face again, she just… suddenly disappeared off into the nation of the god-forbidden fiery hell where the great inferno king, Onyx resided.
When he reached the gate of Onyx he didn’t exactly know what to do. He assumed like every other houses or palaces he had to knock, but before he even managed to take a step towards it the Vulcans drew their weapons and pointed their sharp edges at the berserker in order to ward him back.
"HALT, DOG! THOU SHALL NOT PASS THE GATES OF ONYX!"
“Let me pass, will you?” He asked lazily, “I don’t exactly feel like fighting at the moment.” He could easily take care of these small fries, but the berserker didn’t exactly like fighting. So, when he attempted to walk past them, but as soon as their flaming blades swung at him he stepped back. Just before the berserker could draw his massive sword, a familiar voice interrupted. A female valkyrie in a once luxurious dress that now looked like a prisoner uniform managed to disperse the soldiers before him, and he instantly knew that was Embla. Wow, how long has it been? She hasn’t changed much, that’s for sure.
Then a Vulcan appeared behind her, lecturing and scolding her on how she didn’t warn them of his coming. After that Embla apologized for the inconvenience that the jarheads caused, but he just shrugged it off, “Eh, don’t worry about it. I tend to have a lot of free time now and then anyways.”

❚SHE WAS GLAD TO SEE HIM SAFE FOR THE MOST PART, and she was about to ask him how Raganival was doing when she saw the drained look on his face. The journey was afterall, rather life-threatening at times. But, knowing Vladmir, he was a well-seasoned solider of the Aesir, a few hot temperatures probably wouldn't roast the Berserker easily. Regardless though, the heat is rather deadly, especially since they were in the core of Volkenon. "At any rate, you should rest a bit, the summer equinox's rising temperatures coupled with volcanic heat isn't good for your health." She pointed out worriedly, and produced a glass flask of a cool, blue mint potion. A parchment tag attached to it reads, "C" in black ink. As she brought it up, she gently eased it to his hands, the liquid stirring slightly. "Drink a Cooler along the way, the palace is much cooler than outside here."
❚EMBLA THEN LED HIM BACK TO THE GATES and took care to point out the little cracks and protrusions that might be dangerous if he had tripped and fell, or stepped into a boiling puddle of molten flame. By now, most of the court of the Inferno King's temple was filled by servants, Vulcans and Efreets whom were all busily preparing for the day. Embla quietly led him past the throng of red-skinned demi-humans, and despite a few wary eyes from the onlookers, she walked steadily without falter, leading Vladmir past away from the mid-morning buzz into a more desolate corridor. By now, bright sunlight was pouring through in strong shafts from the sky, shifting ever so often she produced a key swiftly from the pocket of her dress, and unlocked a door, which led to another room.
❚THE SOUNDS OF WATER FLOWING FILLED THE AIR the moment she opened the door. Stepping inside lightly, she looked around quickly before nodding towards Vladmir, gesturing him to come inside. "This is the only water chamber in Volkenon; the Vulcans and the Efreets find no use for water, but it's useful for brewing Alchemy potions." Embla explained, and picked up a ceramic pitcher, fetching a glass cup along the way. She placed them on an obsidian slab of stone that was fashioned into a table nearby, and took the pitcher over to the fountain where water flowed quietly from the spout. "Don't worry, the water isn't hot." She wryly smiled at her own words, and poured him a glass of water. "So, any news from Raganival worth sharing?"

. . "Whoa, the cooler potion is delicious."
-----
The temperature was starting to rise and it was getting a little harder to breathe than before. Vladimir was starting to think how exactly the valkyrie managed to live at a god-forsaken place like this, especially with this kind of heat there was no way that one could adapt place like Volkenon. He was surprised how easily the soldiers in this area breathed in hot air without any problems, they definitely had an upper hand compared to Aesir soldiers when it came down to heated temperatures like this. To be honest, Vladimir was thankful of the peace treaty that they had.
"At any rate, you should rest a bit, the summer equinox's rising temperatures coupled with volcanic heat isn't good for your health."
“Ah, don’t worry about it, I’ll be fine.” He waved his hand dismissively. Was she that worried about him? He wasn’t exactly that tired, but the heat was really starting to get to him to a point where he was starting to become irritated at it. Shortly, Vladimir was given a flask of strange looking potion that had a cool blue color similar to that of an ocean and on it, it was drawn with a letter ‘C’ which oddly made him curious what it was. He took the potion studying it with a child-like curiosity. In his lifetime he never drank a lot of potion other than elixirs for the sake of his stamina during fights. She then told him to drink the ‘cooler’ along the way and in response he nodded.
As both of them walked, Vladimir managed to get a little tour around Volkenon. Embla took her time and showed him what to look out for and what not to step on; however, Vladimir hardly listened to most of her precautions about this dangers of this area due to him being sucked into the taste of the cooler potion. The taste happened to be slightly sweet, but managed to give a cold blow to his chest at the same time. To him, this seemed more of a beverage than a potion, but it did help him to cool his core off from the scorching heat of the Volkenon.
“How are you putting up with this kind of heat?” He asked, “I’m surprised how you are still able to live in this place without any problems."
By the time they reached the court of the temple there were Efreets and Vulcans running about, probably they were preparing for some kind of event? A lot of them were running around in hurry, but the watchers stared at Embla and Vladimir in suspicion. What can a lone berserker do in a Volkenon? The Valkyrie just led him quietly towards the room where he heard a flow of water; he was actually quite taken back by the fact that this place had water. She explained to him that the water was usually used for alchemy and explained that it wasn’t hot. Trusting her, he gently took the cup from her hand and splashed it into his throat.
“I thought I was going to die from the heat.” The berserker sighed in relief, “Thanks Embla.”
"So, any news from Raganival worth sharing?"
News? To be honest, Vladimir didn’t exactly have a lot of news from Raganival everything was just same as always. They were still fighting the elves, the troops were just blood thirsty as usual and as for Odin… well, he was just being him anyways. He sat on the floor looking at the glass cup pondering about what he should say before turning his attention back towards Embla, “Well, it’s always the usual.” He stretched his arms lazily, “We’re still fighting the elves and the entire kingdom’s army is being what they are. Maybe I just don't exactly pay attention to what is going on around me.” Vladimir explained, “What's your story over here? Are you married to Onyx yet?”

A VISITATION --------------------------------------- ANGELY I DEMONY KRUZHILI NADO MNOJ RAZBIVALI TERNII I ZVYOZDYNE PUTI NE ZNAET SCHAST'YA TOL'KO TOT KTO EGO ZOVA PON'YAT NE SMOG
❚EMBLA TRIED NOT TO GRIN TOO MUCH when he voiced his exasperation (and surprise) at how she wasn't sweating like a pig now from the volcanic heat. A simple magic charm by the hands of Onyx, and she was practically one of them - well, except for the fact that she never quite burned up into a flash of fire when she was aroused by anger and the thirst for battle. "Upon my arrival here in the Fire Kingdom, King Onyx had placed a charm upon my body to negate the effects of the heat. Otherwise, I would be shriveled up into a dry crisp by now." She replied somewhat amusedly, gesturing to a chair for him to sit down. Taking a seat opposite, she poured herself her own glass of water, and set the jug back down. "And it's my pleasure, it's the least I can do when you come to this hell hole once a month." Embla smiled apologetically at his thanks, fingering her cup tentatively.
❚SHE WAS GLAD TO HEAR THAT FROM HIM. Glad that nothing much had really changed since she last saw her home country six months ago. The people of Volkenon don't talk much about the war; they feel the ill ease of the possibility that their nation might be involved with the slaughter that has been happening for a nearly a decade now. The last thing the people of the Fire Kingdom wanted, was a war of their own. She nodded absent-mindedly at this though, but stiffened visibly when Vladmir had asked her about her betrothed status - er, well, soon-to-be - to Onyx. Her fingers stopped tapping against the ceramic mug, and she looked somewhat flustered at his question. "Ah that well... he hasn't really spoken a word about that yet." She answered truthfully, grating the words out of her like a block of cheese stuck in the processor. It was true; the Inferno King had busied himself with more political affairs than to take his time to properly settle an oath with her, as per what Odin had desired.
❚COME TO THINK OF IT, she hasn't seen him much lately. She turned to Vladmir with a bit of an troubled eye. "Truthfully, I suppose he is being sincere, letting me stay here without doing anything in return. I think he's tolerating the 'gift' my father gave him." She bitterly replied, taking another sip of cold water with a bit of scorn in her heart. Embla feared the day she was to be wed to that man but yet, she was anxious to see what he would do. So far, she was enjoying her days of peace, but the thought of the day when they would end troubled her to no end. Was there some sort of solution out of this? "A-Anyway, not much as happened. Sorry if my life lacked the excitement to share." Embla replied jokingly, smiling faintly back at him.
❚"WELL, HOW ABOUT YOU? HOW HAVE YOU BEEN?" Embla asked lightly, trying to change the subject as subtly as possible. A wry smile graced her features as she gazed at Vladmir. "Did anything interesting happened at your end? Oh, well I suppose the war does occupy a soldier for any time to contemplate on such things." Embla stated pensively, recalling the days when the battle seemed endless. It was still endless. For now. "But anyway... I hope you've been keeping yourself well, not just for the sake of the Cauldron War." Embla added earnestly. Vladmir seemed to appear to be in good health, but it's suprising to know how many people can appear to seem that way.
